Botanical Artists and Natural Science Illustrators benefit from working with a professional photographer.

At this time I would like to introduce you to my travel partner, Nancy Richmond. I have learned so much from her over the years on how to take  better photographs for my paintings. Her easy-going and enthusiastic method of teaching has made taking photos a regular part of my research and creative process for my paintings. I began leading tours to Costa Rica and other destinations in 1994 and Nancy started to teach photo techniques to photographers and artists. It has been an awesome experience for both of us.

Nancy Richmond has worked as a photojournalist, nature/travel photographer and fine art photographer for the last 30 years.

As a photojournalist, Nancy strives to capture a key moment to tell a story with honesty and integrity.

She has shot a diverse array of subjects, including high school and professional sports, massive forest fires in the West, and small-town politics.

As a nature/travel photographer, Nancy has traveled throughout the United States, Central & South America and Europe taking pictures of places, people and animals.

She teaches artists and photographers how to shoot better photos by using composition, light and macro techniques, and how to better use photos as reference material.

She submits her images to stock photography agencies that sell them to magazines, textbooks and commercial clients.

Nancy's career in fine art photography started with hand-painting black and white photographs.

She currently is studying for her masters of fine art in photography from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Her focus is on creating abstract images using water, color and slow shutter speeds.

She does not alter her images through Photoshop or any other digital image software. She has exhibited at Voyager Productions Gallery, and Open Shutter Gallery, in her hometown, Durango, Colorado.
